The memories of the soldiers, who could or had to enjoy the most different menus in the military service often from the Gamelle, are manifold. The pot-au-feu and the rarebit (Käseschnitte) are still fondly cooked at any military event.

Varied the stories told by the old hands: From “John Wayne”, the food can which sometimes “exploded” in the woods or the notorious “atomic bread”. And which officer does not remember the army cutlery set? Using the army cutlery set, at least the mess tin did not have to be cleaned at the end of the day.
